Whether you’re looking to join the crowds or avoid them, these are the most popular summer holiday destinations.
Thomas Cook has recently released its 2018 holiday report revealing the most popular places for Brits to holiday. Here's our take on the top 5.
If you're looking for that laid back lifestyle, for somewhere you can go and truly forget the stresses of work and home, there's no better place than the Caribbean.
Join the crowds
If you don't mind the swarms of tourists, Jamaica could be exactly what you're looking for. Relaxed vibes are a way of life here and with tonnes of natural beauty to take in, you'll be blown away by this island. Go for a morning hike followed by an afternoon of snorkelling, then rest up on one of the incredible beaches. Bliss.
Avoid the crowds
If you're always looking for a hidden gem, try Culebra in Puerto Rico. It's relatively quiet compared to surrounding areas and has that chilled out, laid back feel, with sandy beaches and turquoise waters to die for.
America was next on the list, and for good reason. Whether you're looking for a relaxing trip for 2 to taste the wine wonders of Napa Valley, a family-filled, fun-packed holiday in Disney World or anything in between, it has it all.
Top tips for surviving a family holiday to Disney World
There's no better feeling than seeing your little ones' faces light up when they see their favourite Disney characters in the flesh, but as an adult, surviving a trip to this amazing world takes some serious preparation. Here are our top 5 tips to get through unscathed.
1. Take your time
You might think that getting in and out as quickly as possible is the best way to get through, but it's actually the opposite. There's so much to see and do there that trying to do it all in as little time as possible can leave you feeling rushed off your feet and worn down. Take your time and stay as long as possible, that way you'll have more time to take it all in.
2. Bring snacks
When people get hungry, things can go from great to ultimate stress very quickly. Make sure you always have snacks and drinks to hand to deal with this. Taking a packed lunch can also help you save money and time queuing to buy food when you're in the parks.
3. Don't overplan
If you try to stick to a tight itinerary, everyone is going to feel stressed. Have a loose plan for each day, but try to relax and go with the flow of the day. If you see something you didn't know was there, or the kids want to go on the last ride again, let it happen.
4. Be early
If you have booked shows or made dinner reservations, make sure you get there nice and early. Set off with plenty of time to spare - if you think you need 30 minutes to get everyone ready, give yourself an hour. The last thing you want is to be rushing around to get there.
5. Take lots of pictures
That way, if you start to feel stressed, you can look back at the happy faces of your loved ones as a reminder that it's all worth it.
If you're looking for somewhere with out of this world all-inclusive resorts - where you can eat, sleep, play and relax all in one place - Turkey could be the ideal holiday destination for you this summer.
With 10,000 plant and 80,000 animal species, Turkey is one of the most bio diverse places in the world and it is estimated that a new type of plant is discovered every 10 days, so if you like nature, get out there and get exploring!
If guaranteed sun, delicious food and fascinating ancient ruins make your list on key must-haves for a summer holiday, the Greece should definitely be the one for you. From the stunning contrasting whitewash buildings against the bright blue backdrop of the sea and sky in Santorini, to the beautiful beaches on the biggest Island Crete, there are plenty of options for everybody.
Topping the list is Spain. It's relatively cheap to visit, guarantees nice weather and promises tapas on every corner. What more could you want? If you're thinking of going out of season, the Canary Islands make for a great trip, or if you want to be right in the thick of it, visit Ibiza and party long into the night.
