We’ve all got a bucket list of things that we want to do and the places that we want to see, but if yours doesn’t have these 5 incredible places on there, you need to add them now!
You only live once, and in the words of the great Frank Sinatra, you should do it your way. But if you don’t have the below places on your bucket list, you’re doing it wrong. Whatever your idea of a dream holiday, we give you our top picks of places you MUST visit in your lifetime.
The Maasai Mara – Kenya
Explorations don’t get much more exciting than the Maasai Mara National Reserve in Narok County, Kenya. Here, you can see all of the ‘big five’ game animals in their natural habitats – the African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard and the Black rhinoceros.
You can stay within the reserve at a number of different camps, and if you visit during July-October you may just be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the incredible migration of the wildebeest.
Something to remember is the birthing season that runs December to February. So if you’d like to see some magical scenes of baby wildlife coming into the world, this is a great time to visit.
Machu Picchu - Peru
A visit to the ancient city of Machu Picchu is a must for any traveller. This Incan wonder is very unique and despite becoming a popular tourist attraction after its rediscovery in the early 20th century, it still manages to preserve a cloak of opulence and mystery.
There are so many ways to experience this breath-taking sight – you can choose to follow one of the Inca Trails and enjoy a trek through the mountains or stay in a nearby hotel for days of exploring. Either way, make sure you have your camera at the ready and enjoy the experience of a lifetime.
Cherry Blossom Festival - Japan
The incredible sight of the cherry blossoms in spring is not be missed and should be high up on your bucket list. They are only in bloom for a short period of a few weeks, so you will need to plan ahead if you want to enjoy them at their peak.
There are several package tours that will allow you travel around Japan to experience the delightful atmosphere of this festival which includes accommodation, transfers and an expert tour guide.
Cherry blossoms are very important in the Japanese culture as they are representation of the human existence and a visual reminder that nothing lasts forever.
The Great Wall – China
The Great Wall of China is one of the Seven Wonders of the World and is something that should be on everyone’s bucket list to visit at least once in their lifetime. It was built during the Zhou Dynasty (770-221 BC) to prevent invasions and protect the silk trade.
Spanning a staggering 13,170 miles, people from all over the world have travelled to be able to experience the wall for themselves - it can even be seen from space!
Swimming with turtles - Maui
Forget swimming with dolphins… it’s all about swimming with turtles now. Five of the world’s seven species of sea turtles have made their home in the waters of Hawaii which make it the perfect place to meet these quirky creatures and enjoy a swim with them.
Sea turtles have been on this planet for over 150 million years and spend the majority of their lives in the waters, only coming ashore to lay their eggs. Unfortunately the worldwide population of turtles is under threat due to pollution.
There are some great snorkelling packages available to let you get up close and personal with them (just not too close as they like their own space) and make sure you take a go pro so you can capture your experience to share with friends and family.
Whatever you choose to add to your bucket list, make sure that it will be memorable and an experience that you will remember for the rest of your life. If you need a helping hand, don’t forget that we offer low cost leisure loans starting from just 3.3% APR Representative between £7,500 and £25,000.
