Easy weekend DIY projects to spruce up your bathroom
Even though the bathroom is one of the most used rooms in the house, it’s often left neglected and unloved. Give your bathroom a new lease of life with these easy DIY projects.
You’d be surprised just how much wasted space there is in your bathroom, so why not add extra storage by adding some shelves above your loo? With so many options, you can get creative with floating shelves or wooden crates mounted to the wall – whatever suits your style!
Top tip – Once the shelves are up, get a nice basket to store toilet rolls in rather than leaving them in the original packaging.
Add some foliage
Having plants around your home has been proven to be good for your mental and physical health. There are plenty of easy to maintain varieties that pretty much take care of themselves, so add a touch of nature to your bathroom now.
Top tip - If you’re struggling for floor space, a small bamboo or aloe vera plant is a good addition to shelving.
Add a second shower curtain
Every other room in the house has a pair of curtains, so why do we only have one for the shower? By adding another one, your bathroom will instantly feel more luxurious, especially if you ditch the old plastic one for some new trendy ones.
Treat your feet
Throw out your old soggy bath mat and replace it with this unique pebble one instead. Not only will it never get smelly, but it will make your bathroom look super expensive and spa-like.
It’s super easy to make so grab some pebbles, waterproof adhesive, a rubber floor mat and get creative!
Frame your mirror
Upgrade that boring bathroom mirror by framing it. If you’re lucky, you might be able to upcycle an old picture frame, but if not, you can put your DIY skills to good use and make one.
If you’re feeling super confident, why not make one that doubles as a shelf? Luxury mirror and additional storage…win-win.
Have a home spa experience by adding a bath tray. Keep your book, phone and candles safe from getting splashed as well as the added bonus of a wine glass holder. Perfect for winding down after a stressful day.
Give it a good clean
This one might not be fun but you’ll be surprised what a good scrub can do. Spend some time cleaning your bathroom from top to bottom – mirrors, floor, under the sink and even give the grouting some attention. Doing this will make it feel just like new!
If under your sink is jammed full of cleaning products, toilet rolls and face scrubs then it might be time to get it organised. Try getting some fancy boxes or containers so everything can have its only place with the bleach no longer next to the toothpaste. It will also give you more storage space and look super fancy if a house guest goes rummaging around.
